Through a series of nine free presentations, SURTEX Trend Theatre will deliver the latest design, style and buying trends in a variety of product categories – from textiles and tabletop to stationery and fashion during the 2015 edition, May 17-19 at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. SURTEX is North America’s premier exposition and conference for the selling and licensing of original art and design.

“SURTEX Trend Theatre presentations deliver the invaluable cutting-edge trend information on which the art and design industry thrives,” said Liz Crawford, vice president and group show director, SURTEX. “We’re delighted that these trend-spotting and thought-leading presenters will share their knowledge and insights to complement the overall SURTEX market experience.”

Hosted by industry experts, trend-spotters and thought-leaders, the 30-minute presentations will be held daily at 11:00 am, 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm in the Trend Theatre located on the exhibit floor within the ReSource Hub. Color forecasts, children’s fashion trends and millennial buying patterns will be among the many topics analyzed as part of this informative series. Complete listings and details are available online at www.surtex.com.

On Sunday, May 17, Scott Power, co-founder of Crewest Studio, will present “Art Is the New Black,” discussing the most exciting happenings in global art at 11am; Jill Sands, publisher of the Trends Forecaster, will present “Millennial Whys: You Have To Look Back To Predict the Future,” analyzing millennial demographic trends at 1pm; and Janet Jacobs, founder of Kids a la Mode, will preview children’s wear themes, color palettes, textile prints, graphics and more in a presentation titled, “Key Trends for Children’s Fashion: Fall/Winter 2016/2017,” at 3pm.

On Tuesday, May 19, at 11 am, Danielle LoCastro, director of operations at First2Print will push the boundaries of textile design with “The Printed Project”; at 1pm, Patti Carpenter, founder and creative director of Carpenter + Company will explore colors, materials and print/surface designs in “Trendscope Color + Trend Insights”; and at 3pm, Stacy Garcia, founder of Stacy Garcia Inc., will reveal how to incorporate trends into business with “Maximizing Color and Material: The Trends You Need To Know.”

These trend presentations complement SURTEX’s comprehensive Conference program, which addresses subjects including licensing best business practices, monetizing art and spotting trends. A total of 10 sessions will be presented across three separate tracks – CORE, ADVANCED and TREND AND BEYOND – during the three-day market. Registration for the full Conference program, which is $890 through May 16, and $1,000 onsite at the show, includes a show badge, valued at $495. Pricing for individual sessions is $90 in advance and $100 per session onsite at the show. Complete details and registration is available online at www.surtex.com.
