Sydney’s Glebe Island exhibition facility has a new general manager

 

AEG Ogden has moved quickly to install an experienced management team at Australia’s Sydney Exhibition Centre at Glebe Island following its appointment by the New South Wales government to operate the facility.


Experienced venue executive Malu Barrios has been appointed general manager of the Glebe Island facility in Sydney, Australia, Geoff Donaghy, AEG Ogden’s director of convention centers, recently announced.

ecn-072013_pom_sydney-center-gm_malu-barrios_webFor the past five years, Barrios has overseen the opening and ongoing success of the AEG Ogden-managed Darwin Convention Centre. Prior to Darwin, she was general manager of Sydney Showground for five years and spent six years as events director at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, also operated by AEG Ogden.

The Sydney Exhibition Centre at Glebe Island will be open for the 2014 exhibition season and will offer 80,000 square feet of high-quality, fully enclosed space specifically constructed for Sydney’s exhibitions and tradeshows.

It will house Sydney’s leading public exhibitions and tradeshows during the development of the new international convention, exhibition and entertainment precinct at Darling Harbour.

AEG Ogden is part of the Darling Harbour Live consortium, which is partnering with the NSW Government to deliver the new, world class convention, exhibition and entertainment facilities at Darling Harbour, and will operate of the International Convention Centre Sydney, due for completion in December 2016.

AEG Ogden is contracted to Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority, the government agency responsible for the operation of the Sydney Exhibition Centre at Glebe Island and the new facilities proposed for Darling Harbour.

AEG Ogden is a joint venture between Australian venue management interests and AEG Facilities of the United States. AEG Ogden manages venues throughout the Asia Pacific region.
