Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre has won Oceania’s Leading Meetings & Conference Centre at the 2026 World Travel Awards, securing the title for the second consecutive year.
The World Travel Awards announced the winners Sept. 27 during its Asia, Oceania & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony at CROSSROADS Maldives. Te Pae Christchurch competed alongside ICC Sydney, Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre and Cairns Convention Centre.
Back-to-Back Recognition
The award recognizes Te Pae Christchurch’s role in attracting international conferences, meetings and business events to Christchurch.
“It is an honour to represent the Canterbury region and Aotearoa New Zealand on the international stage and to be recognised alongside some of the most respected convention centres in Oceania,” said Ross Steele, general manager of Te Pae Christchurch.

980 Events and Counting
Since opening in May 2022, Te Pae Christchurch has hosted more than 980 events and welcomed more than 447,000 local, national and international visitors.
The convention center can host up to 2,000 delegates. Its facilities include a 1,364-seat auditorium, 2,800 square meters of exhibition space and 24 meeting rooms.
Crown Infrastructure Delivery owns the venue, while Legends Global manages it.
Sustainability Adds Another Measure
Te Pae Christchurch has reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by 20% since opening in 2022. The venue also maintains annual Toitū Envirocare Net Carbon Zero certification and EnviroMark Gold status.
In addition, Te Pae Christchurch earned Qualmark Gold recertification for its work in sustainability, accessibility and visitor experience. TTW 2026 also included the venue among its Top 50 Convention Centres Worldwide.
