Ten-day application window offers entry point into Las Vegas’ growing convention workforce
Las Vegas continues to set the pace for tradeshow activity, and Southern Nevada Teamsters Local 631 Convention Training Trust (Teamsters 631) is looking to train the next wave of skilled convention workers. From August 4 through August 15, Teamsters 631 will accept apprenticeship applications online and in person.
The program offers entry-level training tailored to the demands of tradeshow work. Applications will be available at the training center at 4490 Nexus Way, Suite 102, in Las Vegas, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays. An online version will also be available at www.631train.com, but completed applications must be submitted in person within the same hours and timeframe.
Applicants must be at least 17 and one-half years old and take a New Entrant Exam. A minimum of 65 points, earned through both the application and exam, is required to advance to an oral interview. To be selected, candidates must be at least 18 years old, physically capable of doing the work, pass a drug test, and complete a performance-based boot camp.
All applications must include copies of the following:
- A government-issued ID
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- School transcripts
- Any trade-related certifications or documented experience, if applicable
“We’re proud to offer a program that helps build practical skills while introducing applicants to the pace and structure of the convention industry,” says a representative from the training center.
