The Miami Dade Sea Turtle Conservation Program was started in 1980 when Miami-Dade
County Parks employee Jim Hoover began to watch over 10 sea turtle nests, assuring their safety so that hatchlings had a better chance of survival. Averaging 100 to 120 eggs per nest, the normal survival rate to maturity is a mere 1 percent.
In 2003, due to his dedication and hard work, Hoover’s initiative led to the unprecedented survival of over 600 nests. Today, despite overwhelming activity on Miami-Dade’s beaches, there are 375 viable beachfront nests lying in safety for the current nesting period.
Known for its high concept event productions that originate from an intimate connection with clients, the TOCA production team is able to nurture concepts into reality. TOCA Events is applying the same ability to humane projects, such as the Sea Turtle Conservation Program.
