Tourism New Zealand to Debut “Manaakitanga” Experience at IMEX

Tourism New Zealand and industry partners are set to debut the “manaakitanga” experience in Frankfurt, Germany on May 16 at IMEX, the worldwide exhibition for Incentive Travel, Meetings and Events.

The notion that a stranger can soon become a friend after a conversation and a meal is the concept behind an innovative hosting experience designed by Tourism New Zealand and created and carved by the New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute.

A stunning, interactive, carved table where visitors can share food and conversation is designed around the uniquely kiwi experience of “manaakitanga” (hospitality) and “Korero and Kai” (conversation and food).

Speakers at the event are set to include Kerry Prendergast, the chair of the TNZ, Lisa Gardiner head of International Business Events and premium manager, for TNZ, Leonie Ashford,  business events bid manager for TNZ and Kiri Atkinson-Crean, general manager of sales and marketing of Te Puia, the New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute.

IMEX envisions a world where good business transcends borders and oceans, where meeting planners can connect easily with suppliers across the globe and build powerful working relationships. Its aim is to unite and advance the meetings industry by helping to educate, innovate and allow exhibition professionals to make powerful connections with the right people.
