UFI, the global association of the exhibition industry, has scheduled its eighth Forum on Sustainable Development to be held in Orlando, Fla., on Aug. 6-7. The event is to exchange information about the most important drivers for implementing sustainability in the event industry: engagement, collaboration and measurement.
Ben Wielgus, head of sustainability for Informa PLC, explains, “As head of sustainability in a leading global events business, I find ‘UFI’s Forum on Sustainability’ to be a vital place for professionals to come together and consider how we can improve the impacts of the exhibition industry,” adding, “Previously held in Asia, I’m particularly excited that this time the Educational Forum on Sustainable Development will be held in the U.S.A. It gives us all a unique opportunity to work with colleagues from across the world and share best practice solutions to the problems we’re all facing.”
On the afternoon of Aug. 6, a sustainability update and a tour of the Orange County Convention Center is planned. The following morning sessions are set to showcase the latest sustainable practices deployed across organizers, venues, contractors and other partners, with speakers from Freeman, GES, IMEX, Informa, RAI Amsterdam, Sands Expo and the U.S. Green Building Council. In the afternoon, sessions are set to tackle the measurement issue and provide an overview of the status of several key frameworks and initiatives available around the world.
Throughout the day, participants from China, France, Germany, Mexico, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the U.K. and U.S. will be invited to share knowledge and exchange. The forum has been scheduled immediately prior to the SISO Leadership Conference, also being held in Orlando, allowing participants to attend both conferences if desired.
UFI is the global association of the world’s leading trade show organizers and fairground owners, as well as the major national and international exhibition associations, and selected partners of the exhibition industry. For more info on the upcoming forum, visit ufi.org/orlando2018.
