In July, the International Convention Sydney’s delivery of the Australian Woodworking Industry Suppliers Association exhibition took home the highly coveted “Best Venue Team” at the Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia’s Awards for Excellence. The delivery of AWISA was required to build the equivalent of five woodworking factories, including highly sensitive, robotic, large-scale and potentially dangerous equipment, under one roof within eight days. The complex event delivery involved a vast number of ICC Sydney team members from across a range of departments.
Hosted at ICC Sydney for the very first time, the awards recognized the exceptional work of organizers, association organizers, venues and suppliers in the exhibition and events industry. The 2018 event saw a 16 percent increase in attendance from 2016, with 34 percent of visitors returning for a second or third time.
