VisitPITTSBURGH is pleased to announce a business partnership with SuLo XYZ, a Pittsburgh-based technology startup focused on providing access to portable, hand-held charging batteries for phones, tablets and more.

Together with SuLo XYZ, VisitPITTSBURGH will deploy charging stations, which house and recharge mobile battery packs, throughout Allegheny County, creating an ecosystem that makes it easy and convenient for devices to always be “topped up” on battery power.

Jerad Bachar VisitPittsburg“VisitPITTSBURGH’s new business relationship with SuLo XYZ not only makes travel throughout the Pittsburgh region more convenient, but it also underscores Pittsburgh’s position as a tech-forward destination for business, sports and leisure travel,” VisitPITTSBURGH president & CEO Jerad Bachar (pictured left) says. “Convenient and simplistic in its approach, SuLo XYZ has made it easy for businesses within the travel and hospitality communities to be a part of the burgeoning tech ecosystem focused on visitors. Our hope is that these charging stations will soon be available in all of Pittsburgh’s major attractions, hotels, visitor centers, restaurants and more.”

The toaster-like power stations house eight portable chargers, each with lightning micro-USB and USB-C cables built-in. The charges are equipped with fast-charge technology that allows a phone to be fully charged in 35 minutes. Users simply need to download the SuLo XYZ app then scan a QR code at a power station to receive a portable charger they can take with them. The battery packs can be dropped off at the next most-convenient station; users do not need to return them to the original station.

The cost to rent is $1.50 per hour, with a maximum daily cost, and battery packs are available to rent for up to three days before users are charged $36 to purchase the device. Businesses that house the charging stations receive 15% of all net revenues produced by any charger.

You will no longer need to divert from your plan when your phones run low. SuLo XYZ is here to ensure your visit to Pittsburgh goes uninterrupted. With VisitPITTSBURGH’s network, we aim to create an ecosystem that calls local businesses together to achieve our shared vision of making Pittsburgh into a more tech-friendly city.”
