2014 International CES introduces social media promotions

A variety of social media promotions will be seen at 2014 International CES from Jan. 7-10, 2014, in Las Vegas, according to Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), which owns and produces this large gathering for technology enthusiasts.

Designed to help attendees more easily navigate the show, identify key trends and connect with business contacts, friends and colleagues, these promotions include a Social Media Command Center, a networking event called Social Hour and a Social Media Vending Machine.

“We are excited to offer our attendees the opportunity to truly become more deeply immersed in the technology conversations taking place at the 2014 International CES,” said Karen Chupka, senior vice president, International CES and Corporate Business Strategy. “These promotions help make the CES experience even more impactful for our attendees.”

The Social Media Command Center will be powered by global communications firm FleishmanHillard’s black box, an interactive, portable, human-powered technology platform that integrates business data – including traditional, digital and social conversations – into real-time insight dashboards and visualizations. At the 2014 CES, black box will sift through the mountains of information being generated across the show floor and beyond.

“With an enormous amount of information generated before, during and after CES, it can be difficult to sift out the most relevant – and actionable – content and conversations,” said Darrell Jursa, senior vice president and partner, Global Emerging Media & Technology, FleishmanHillard. “By essentially making big data small, the Social Media Command Center aims to change the way both attendees and non-attendees experience the energy, excitement and innovation of CES.”

Show attendees can walk up to a touchscreen populated with rotating topics based on conference content and click on a subject to see a dashboard featuring all the relevant content bubbling to the top, including conversational trends and the most influential conversation streams. The dashboards are downloadable and shareable, and they will be continuously updated during the event.

Adobe, the global leader in digital marketing and digital media solutions, and a title sponsor of Brand Matters, is bringing social data visualizations to the 2014 CES keynote stage on Jan. 7 and 8. The graphic displays will provide the top social conversations and trending topics from Brand Matters and CES.

Social Hour is a networking event to be held on Jan. 9 at the V Bar in The Venetian Hotel. The event provides an opportunity for the CES social media community gathering at the International CES to connect face to face at the show and network offline.

The new Social Media Vending Machine will be located in the Experience CEA display in the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) Grand Lobby. Attendees who use the vending machine to issue a tweet using the official CES hashtag (#CES2014) and Twitter handle (@IntlCES) will receive a CES branded t-shirt. Attendees who wear the t-shirt on the show floor will have the opportunity to win gift cards.

2014 CES will feature more than 3,200 exhibitors unveiling the latest consumer technology products and services across 15 product categories. For more information, visit CESweb.org.
