CorpEvents New England becomes general contractor for Boston CCs

CorpEvents New England has been approved by the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA) as a general service contractor at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center (BCEC) and the John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center. CorpEvents New England is a division of Corporate Communications, which has provided exhibit installation and dismantle services throughout New England for the past 25 years.

“This new status provided by the MCCA will allow us to expand our services beyond the local hotels to the large convention sites,” said Robert Dobinski, president of Corporate Communications. “It is an exciting time for our company and employees.”

Boston is one of the most popular convention destinations in the world, especially in the United States. The number of associations and groups booking their tradeshows and meetings in Boston is increasing every year, and so is the need for a quality labor force to service these events. Many outside service groups need a quality company to provide union labor for their events, and CorpEvents New England is positioned to do so with a new labor agreement to meet the union’s new standards.

“In the past we have been limited to servicing small events –100 exhibits or less at the hotels throughout Boston,” said Dobinski.“Given this new status, CorpEvents can provide large show packages and labor to visiting general service contractors. Many of the companies that had competed for this business have decided not to renew or comply with the new union regulations that call for an expanded union list of 24 employees and benefits, which will be mandatory in the next few months.”

The first project CorpEvents will be involved with is “The NEXXT Show” at the “Infectious Diseases Society of America Tradeshow” at the BCEC October 20 -22.

“We are excited about our event in Boston and working with CorpEvents because we have confidence in their 25 years of managing labor for events in Boston,” said Matt Epstein, president of NexxtShow.

This expansion comes on the heels of the MCCA T5 initiative comprised of a 25 member convention partnership initiative to elevate Boston to one of the top five tradeshow destinations in the United States. Presently, it is number nine on the list.

“This, coupled with the changing union landscape, makes this expansion of our services even more exciting,” said Dobinski. “I believe we are one of the first companies to comply with the new union standards, which will give us an edge over our competition.”
