CIBTM develops business travel sector in China

The China Incentive, Business Travel and Meetings Exhibition (CIBTM) has formed a partnership with the Association for Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) and is set to deliver a stream of dedicated business travel education sessions that will support the growth potential for this sector in the region. CIBTM 2012 takes place September 12-14, 2012.

“Last year’s China and Asia Meetings Industry Research Report revealed that 66 percent of the hosted buyers who attended were involved in business travel,” said Jeffrey Xu, project manager, CIBTM. “Our new partnership with ACTE will deliver a unique level of knowledge, insight and expertise to all attendees, supporting both hosted buyer and trade visitors in achieving their business objectives.”

The business travel education streams, moderated by Ron DeLio, executive director, ACTE, and Benson Tang, regional director, Asia, ACTE, are designed to provide attendees with a greater understanding of the best practices in business travel when dealing with a unique economic environment such as China.

China Meetings Week will kick off with “Optimising Your Business Travel Spend: Do’s and Don’ts for Building and Implementing a Travel Policy” on Tuesday, Sept. 12, a session dedicated to identifying key drivers and highlighting pitfalls when developing and implementing travel policies in a unique marketplace.

Also on Sept. 12, the second session in the business travel lineup will identify which payment processes are realistically deliverable within regional constraints. “Improve Finance Processes and Optimize Travel Payment Systems in China” will consider the role of the corporate credit card in China.

Wednesday, Sept. 13 will kick off with a panel discussion, “Delivering Savings in an Upbeat China Market,” which will identify tactics for negotiating local deals and identify the value they can bring to a company.

The final business travel session at CIBTM will explore ways of using corporate travel policy to enhance and strengthen company profiles in Asia and beyond. “How to Use Corporate Travel Policy to Build the Enterprise-wide Company Image” will explore corporate social responsibility and green initiatives.

“This collaboration is extremely timely, as business travel and meetings continue to converge. Face-to-face meetings are vital to business success and a healthy economy,” said Ron DiLeo, executive director, ACTE. “Executives must travel to network and push forward initiatives. Through this partnership, ACTE is pleased to bring its unique level of knowledge, insight and expertise to Reed Travel Exhibitions, increasing educational deliverables to the meetings industry.”
