Exhibition World, a U.K. publication covering the exhibition industry, has announced that it will give a variety of awards to companies and individuals participating in the annual Global Exhibitions Day. The actual date of Global Exhibitions Day is June 7, which corresponds with the U.S.-based Exhibitions Day at Capitol Hill. However, the global variety is in fact a months-long event that has already begun and includes businesses around the world engaging in an assortment of activities to draw attention to the importance of the exhibition industry in the global economy.
UFI, the global association for the exhibition industry, spearheads the worldwide event and will provide judges for the competition that Exhibition World unveiled. The categories to be judged include:
Most Creative Activity: endorsing the most quirky, fun and challenging entry
Highest Profile Online Activity: recognizing the most ambitious online marketing initiative
Biggest Scale Physical Activity: awarding the most impressive offline activity
Industry Impact Award: recognizing the initiative that has the most positive impact supporting exhibitions as an industry
Winners will get coverage of their activity in an upcoming edition of EW, as well as a trophy.
This year’s Global Exhibitions Day comes on the heels of overwhelming success with 2016’s event, which featured hundreds of companies, individuals, municipalities, and governmental bodies touting the importance of the trade show industry. The U.S. event is designed to sway lawmakers to adopt legislation that fosters the growth of the U.S. trade show and event industry, but the global event aims to elevate visibility by using a common hashtag (#GED17) and prompting conversations within countries worldwide about the many facets of the marketplace.
