Freeman unites Tweeters
The day of intense networking and learning was off to a great start with Freeman hosting a breakfast Tweetup at the Bay Side buffet.
Tweeters and non-tweeting industry professionals got a chance to connect in real time and to talk about extending the life of brands. For those on the sidelines of progress, takeaways included information on tools, such as a Flip camera, that make sharing the story on the Web easier. The event also tied into the overall theme of melding together physical and social media realms of Freeman’s space on the show floor.

EIC releases best practice guide
The Exhibit Industry Council (EIC) released a first best practice guide aimed at providing exhibitors with a frame of reference for better industry standards.
Titled “Full Disclosure and Control of Exhibitor Costs,” the document presents 11 points that address pressing issues in the industry as well as provides definitions and recommendations for possible solutions. The text will soon be available on the Councils’ site www.exhibitindustrycouncil.org.
“The purpose of the best practice guide is to increase exhibitor value and improve the effectiveness of face-to-face tradeshow and convention marketing efforts,” said Jim Wurm, executive director of the Exhibitor Appointed Contractor Association (EACA) and the spokesman for EIC. The Council is comprised of several industry associations, including Corporate Event Marketing Association (CEMA), EACA, Exhibit Designers and Producers Association (EDPA), Healthcare Convention and Exhibitors Association (HCEA) and Trade Show Exhibitors Association (TSEA).
The detailed and pointed recommendations are likely to quickly find resonance in the industry. Look for a full story in the next issue of Exhibit City News.
