PCMA seminar aims to support future corporate meeting planners

Supporting the corporate meeting planners of the future is set to be discussed at a series of seminars from the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) at AIBTM, which kicks off June 11 at McCormick Place in Chicago.

AIBTM is a global exhibition for the U.S. meetings and events industry, delivering individually qualified hosted buyers and eligible trade buyers from the U.S. and around the world.

PCMA educates leaders in the meetings, conventions, events and tradeshow industries. Its seminar program builds on the strategic partnership formed between the IBTM Global Events Portfolio and PCMA in 2010. PCMA delivers a corporate education stream at IBTM Events, which are held annually across the globe.

The Corporate Meeting Planner of the Future seminar, taking place in room W190A at 10:00 a.m., will kick off the program. Presented by Greg Bogue, experience architect, Maritz Travel Company, the session will explore the why-to and how-to of enhancing attendees strategic value as a corporate meeting professional.

Building the planner of the future and ensuring attendees walk away with a personal plan to move to the next level is the objective. This will be achieved by helping meetings industry professionals understand the interconnectivity between strategy, the planning process and the meeting experience. The session will also explore best practices for transferring business strategies into meeting and event strategies.

In another session, PCMA will combine forces with the Healthcare Convention and Exhibitors Association (HCEA) to share key findings from the organization’s State of the Industry report, which offers specific insights for medical convention organizers and exhibit marketing personnel.

Running from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. in room W190A is Healthcare Convention Trends – What Medical Meeting Planners Need to Know, presented by Jacqueline Beaulieu, executive vice president, Healthcare Convention and Exhibitors Association.

A seminar exploring Conferences and Tradeshows On the Go takes place from 09:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. in room W195. Hosted by Maurice Schweitzer, associate professor, the University of Pennsylvania, the session features a dynamic negotiation skills program designed to sharpen business acumen.
