Dubai Business Events, the city’s official convention bureau, successfully secured 82 international meetings, conferences and incentive travel groups in the third quarter of 2019, contributing to the future line-up of business events which include key financial and medical conferences, among others.

The events secured in Q3 2019 are set to attract 29,219 delegates from around the globe, re-affirming Dubai’s status as a premier destination for business events.

The bid wins include: ACI Financial Markets World Congress, which is scheduled to be held in 2020 and is set to attract over 800 visitors; and the Asian Congress on Urology to be held in 2023, which will host over 1,200 visitors. Among other bid wins are the World Conference for Gifted and Talented Children, Melaleuca China Incentive, Herbalife Indonesia Incentive, Virtual Mind Annual Meeting China, and the Tata Motors Incentive that all are set to take place between 2019 and 2021.

“Our success in bidding for and securing key international business events over recent months is testament to the strides we have made as a city to attract and host large scale strategic conferences, meetings and incentive groups, and fully align with the Emirate’s visionary leadership and Dubai’s Tourism Vision 2022-2025,” says Issam Kazim, chief executive officer of Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing.

“This has been the result of the combined efforts of stakeholders across the city, from venues, hotels and DMCs to local associations, businesses and government departments, contributing not only to tourism growth, but also the development of Dubai as a knowledge hub. We look forward to working with these partners to build on our achievements and drive greater economic and knowledge impact through successful bids over the coming months.’’

Dubai Business Events further elevated its efforts to engage with business events professionals around the world through sales missions and trade shows. These initiatives served as a platform to meet and engage with key decision makers around the world, and to educate them about the city’s offerings as well as services offered by Dubai Business Events.

Joined by key stakeholders, Dubai Business Events organized sales missions across southeast Asia, Europe, Japan and India. The convention bureau was also represented at major international trade shows such as the American Society of Association Executives annual meeting, IMEX America and IT&CM Asia.

“Over the past quarter, Dubai Business Events has been gearing up for a strong pipeline of meetings, conferences, congresses and incentives which are set to take place over the coming years,” says Steen Jakobsen, assistant vice president of Dubai Business Events. “This quarter has been a busy and productive period in terms of securing world-class bid wins which are set to further elevate Dubai as a business events destination of choice on a global scale. Our success in securing these bid wins has demonstrated Dubai’s ability to provide event planners with a wide array of options and possibilities, and we are looking forward to building on these achievements in the lead up to a defining year for Dubai in 2020.”

Before the year ends, Dubai will host an array of business events, including the second edition of the Dubai Associations Conference that will take place Dec. 9-10 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Over the course of the two days, the conference will bring together industry experts from around the world in order to create a positive social impact by building the association community in the region.

Dubai is also preparing to host other world-class business events such as Amway APAC Leadership Seminar 2019, which will attract approximately 10,000 delegates, the World Congress of Neurology, with 5,000 delegates, and the World Conference on Desalination and Water Re-use, with over 1,000 delegates.

Meanwhile, DBE’s promotional activities in the fourth quarter are seeing it welcome study missions from China, North America, India and southeast Asia, providing an opportunity for meetings industry professionals to explore and experience the latest offerings in the city. Meanwhile, DBE is being joined by stakeholders at major industry trade show IBTM World in Barcelona.

Dubai Business Events aims to further develop and increase Dubai’s share of the international business events market in order to grow economic development, jobs and knowledge creation in the emirate.
