Dusseldorf Shows Postponed to Summer

In consultation with the partners and associations involved, Messe Düsseldorf is postponing  the next five international trade fairs at the Düsseldorf (Germany) location. BEAUTY, TOP HAIR, ProWein, wire and Tube, which were originally scheduled from March to May 2022, will now each take place at a later date in early summer. The respective industries welcome the new dates and, together with Messe Düsseldorf, are counting on a much more positive overall situation.

The  current high incidence of infection and the rapidly spreading Omicron variant also impact the dates of the upcoming leading trade fairs at the Düsseldorf fairgrounds. The first Düsseldorf trade fairs to be held this year will be BEAUTY from May 6 – 8 and TOP HAIR from May 7 – 8 (original dates: March 4 – 6 and March 5 – 6), followed by ProWein from May 15  – 17 (original dates: March 27 – 29).

These adjustments in the Düsseldorf trade fair schedule also result in the rescheduling of wire and Tube (original dates: May 9-13), which will now take place from June 20 – 24. The mechanical engineering companies involved in the international No. 1 trade fairs for the wire, cable and tube industries require particularly long lead times. This postponement gives them planning security. They will also benefit from the synergy effects and complementary ranges of METAV, the leading trade fair for metalworking technologies, which has already been postponed to June 21 – 24 by the German Machine Tool Builders Association (VDW).

Dr. Stephan Keller, Lord Mayor of Düsseldorf and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Messe Düsseldorf, welcomes this decision. “All parties – participating companies and business at the location – are interested in Düsseldorf’s leading trade fairs being as safe and successful as possible. The currently intensified pandemic situation does not allow for sufficient planning security. Therefore, postponing the trade fairs to early summer makes the most sense for all parties involved. Based on the experience of the past two pandemic years and the assessment of virologists, we then expect a significantly improved situation, in which the trade shows can have a much greater positive impact.”

Wolfram N. Diener, CEO of Messe Düsseldorf, emphasized the industry’s support for the new date. “The tenor of our exhibitors is: We want and need leading Düsseldorf trade fairs at a time that promises the greatest prospects of success. Together with the partners and associations involved, we see early summer as the ideal time for this. Not only do we expect a weakened infection level at that time, but also more people to be able to enter the country and participate. This means that exhibiting companies as well as visitors can do business in an environment significantly less affected by COVID-19.”

Earlier, Messe Düsseldorf also postponed EuroCIS, The Leading Trade Fair for Retail Technology, from February to May 31 – June 2, 2022.  boot, the world’s largest water sports trade fair scheduled for January 22 – 30, 2022 had to be cancelled since the state of North Rhine-Westphalia prohibited public trade fairs in January.
