Gallo Displays inspires with a heart

Gallo Displays, designers and creators of 3D marketing solutions, held the 29th annual Gallo Open Charity Outing on July 31, 2010 at the Mallard Creek Golf Course in Cleveland, Ohio to benefit members of the industry undergoing cancer treatment.

The day’s events raked in $8,800 for recipients Sandy Godbey and Johnny Benton; both Gallo employees and both cancer patients. Each beneficiary will receive a check for $4,400.

More than 120 golfers and guests, representing various companies in the tradeshow industry, indulged in the day’s activities. Golfing, eating and participating in charity raffles and fun were the order of the day.

“I have golfed in many outings,” said Bob Obrzut, uncle of Sandy Godbey. “This one was by far the best managed and the most fun one that I have been in.”

Long time participant, Mike Boone of Coastal International, considers giving back to the community the best loved part of the year, not just by him, but by all.

“The people that attend are all awesome whether we compete or not, and consider many of them some of my best friendships,” said Boone. “Again, a part of what makes this industry so great.”

The winners of the tournament were The Kovacs Foursome, which consisted of Larry and Kyle Kovacs, Eric Nordmeyer and Kent Hardman. The team boasted a four-man scramble score of 11 under par. Each team member took home a trophy inscribed Gallo Open 2010, First Place.

Raffle tickets sold by Mary Grattino, Gallo I&R supervisor, were of special interest as she shamelessly and in good fun enlisted her 10-week-old nephew to close sales.
