Bring out the clubs and practice your swing for the 23rd annual Las Vegas EDPA Scholarship Golf Classic, teeing off June 3 at scenic Angel Park Golf Course in Las Vegas.
In conjunction with EDPA Foundation, the Las Vegas chapter has been raising scholarship money since 2002 and has awarded 135 scholarships totaling more than $400,000 over the years.
The Las Vegas tournament, along with EDPA chapter tournaments around the nation, is critical to supporting the EDPA Foundation, says Amy Sondrup, president of Access TCA and past president of EDPA.
“The money these tournaments raise goes directly to help people in our industry,” Sondrup says. “These monies not only empower students from industry families to obtain scholarship support that we hope brings future leaders to our industry, but they also help families in need.”
Any immediate family member of an EDPA company who has graduated or will graduate high school and has been accepted for attendance at a post-high school educational institute is eligible. Scholarships are awarded based on financial need, academic achievement, and essay, awards and extra credit.
Some golfers play for the networking opportunity, and some play for bragging rights. Either way, it’s a great calling to support the EDPA Foundation.
“All EDPA chapter tournaments are special because they create space to put the competitive nature of our business aside and allow us to get together with all our industry friends to celebrate causes bigger than ourselves,” says Sondrup, who lives in Rhode Island and plays in the Northeast EDPA golf tournament almost every summer.
Jason Vince, account executive at Quest Events, is organizing the Las Vegas tournament.
