Belt and Road Summit Draws 6,200 Leaders to Hong Kong

The 11th Belt and Road Summit drew more than 6,200 political and business leaders from more than 70 countries and regions to Hong Kong. The two-day event also expanded its programming with new sections focused on global business, Central Asia, and emerging industries.

The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) co-organized the summit, which concluded Sept. 11.

Organizers reported more than 300 investment projects with a combined value exceeding $5.4 billion. In addition, the summit arranged more than 800 one-on-one deal-making meetings and facilitated more than 60 memoranda of understanding.

New Programs Expand Summit

For the first time, the summit included a GoGlobal Chapter aimed at companies seeking opportunities in international markets. Programming included educational sessions, roundtable discussions, a business study mission, and the GoGlobal Connect Zone.

The event also introduced a Central Asia Chapter and Central Asia Zone. Government officials, business leaders, and investors from the region participated in discussions about development projects and investment opportunities.

Meanwhile, the Middle East Chapter and Middle East Zone focused on business opportunities across the Middle East and other emerging markets. Sessions included representatives from Qatar, Oman, South Africa, Nigeria, Brazil, Egypt, and Morocco.

The summit’s exhibition areas featured more than 120 exhibitors. Along with established Hong Kong, Global Investment, Chinese Mainland, and Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) zones, organizers added University, GreenTech, and GoGlobal Connect zones this year.

Deal-Making Continues After Event

Business matchmaking remained a major part of the summit. Organizers used project investment sessions, exhibition areas, and the Belt and Road Deal-Making program to connect companies and potential partners.

One agreement brought together Shaanxi TIRAIN Science & Technology Co., Ltd. and Deloitte Advisory (Hong Kong) Limited. The companies signed a memorandum of understanding related to TIRAIN’s international expansion.

Another event during Belt and Road Week, ASEAN Market Day, attracted 340 small and medium-sized enterprises. Participants met with representatives from HKTDC’s ASEAN offices, consulates general, and business associations.

HKTDC extended its Belt and Road Deal-Making program online Sept. 14–15 following the in-person summit. The Belt and Road Global Forum Annual Roundtable 2026 also followed the event, bringing together representatives from Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland, and international chambers of commerce and organizations to discuss market trends and regional cooperation.

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council promotes Hong Kong trade and organizes exhibitions, conferences, and business missions connecting companies with international markets.
