Maritz Activate 2026 Earns Silver Sustainability Certification

Maritz’s Activate 2026 has earned Silver certification under the Events Industry Council’s (EIC) Sustainable Event Standards, advancing from Bronze in 2025.

The annual gathering brings together Maritz supplier partners and team members. The Alliance for Audited Media independently audited the event’s compliance with the Event Organiser standard.

The standards cover environmental and social practices, including climate action, water use, materials, supply chains, accessibility, and social impact. They also address organizational management, marketing, communications and engagement, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.

“It reflects the many small, intentional changes the team has implemented to make sustainability a bigger part of the Activate experience,” said Jim Russell, global head of business events solutions at Maritz.

Maritz credited several partners and sponsors for supporting the event’s sustainability efforts during design and planning. They included Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center, Visit Orlando, Experience Kissimmee, Cohera, Hello! Destination Management, PRA Events, Inc., Fern Expo, and Encore.

Activate first earned EIC certification in 2025. However, the announcement did not identify the specific changes or measured results behind its advancement to Silver.
