Convention Industry Council, an advocate of the meeting and tradeshow industries, celebrated the new Hall of Leaders Recognition Pavilion at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception on Feb. 11.
CIC spent a full year redesigning the exhibit and building a website incorporated into it to tell the personal stories of success and to house videos collected from many of the 111 meeting industry professionals who were inducted into the Hall of Leaders since 1984.
“The Hall of Leaders that came before us and those [who] will come after us serve as a living history of the meetings industry,” said Robert Gilbert, president and CEO, Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International, and 2014 chair of the board of directors, Convention Industry Council. “Never before have we had such a complete collection of the legends and trailblazers that shaped meetings, available for everyone to access and become inspired.”
Now interactive, what was once a static exhibit is made up of engaging touch screens where the public can view photos, videos and biographies of the inductees. Not just accessible at the convention center, the Hall of Leaders website, a vault of historical information on the inductees, is available on CIC’s website.
The display incorporates mobile capabilities so that CIC can use it as part of its booth at tradeshows in the building.
