PHLCVB Names Abbey Hunton VP of Communications

Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau (PHLCVB) has named Abbey Hunton vice president of communications.

Hunton brings more than 15 years of experience in media relations, crisis communications, executive communications, and communications strategy.

In her new role, Hunton will lead PHLCVB’s media relations, public voice, and communications strategy. She joins as Philadelphia prepares for FIFA World Cup 26.

Hunton will also work with PHLCVB leaders, media, partner groups, and the Pennsylvania Convention Center. In addition, her role will support PHLCVB business divisions, including PHL Sports, PHL Life Sciences, and PHL Diversity.

“Over the course of her career, Abbey has established herself as an expert in communications strategy, media relations and storytelling, and team leadership, which made her the ideal choice to lead the PHLCVB communications team into the future,” says Joe Heller, chief marketing officer of PHLCVB. “Abbey’s leadership and strategic vision will be pivotal in cementing the PHLCVB’s public profile as a preeminent leader in meetings, conventions, sporting events, and international tourism.”

Role supports meetings and tourism messaging

As vice president of communications, Hunton will serve as strategist, spokesperson, and media liaison for PHLCVB.

Before joining PHLCVB, Hunton served as vice president of marketing and communications for the Alzheimer’s Association (DE, NJ, PA). She also served as news director for the University of Pennsylvania Health System.

Hunton holds a bachelor’s degree in communications and public relations from Elizabethtown College.
