ACOM members to celebrate the art of convention services

The Association for Convention Operations Management (ACOM) will host its second Annual National Celebrate Services Day on August 25, 2011 throughout the United States and Canada, continuing its mission to illustrate the importance of convention services to the meeting experience. The event is complemented by its theme, “The Art of Convention Services.”

During its inaugural National Celebrate Services Day in 2010, ACOM members hosted 30 events – themed, social or community outreach, networking receptions and more – in cities throughout the United States and Canada. After getting its feet wet with the event last year, ACOM is striving for 50 events in participating cities in 2011.

“Last year, we saw great success with this event, and it was uplifting to see how well ACOM members joined together to celebrate convention services,” said Eric Blanc, ACOM president. “We are confident this year’s event will be better than ever and will help spread the word about the importance of convention services.”

ACOM’s National Celebrate Services Day enables members to host or attend a networking event with other convention services managers (CSMs) in their city. Through this initiative, members will help stimulate camaraderie among services professionals, obtain new members for the association and ultimately help showcase the important role of CSMs as partners to meeting planners. ACOM will award the host with the most creative or unique event with a complimentary 2012 Annual Conference registration.
