Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau announces the promotion of Charlene Lopez to director of citywide sales, effective Oct. 1. In this role, Lopez will lead sales initiatives for citywide events requiring multiple hotel properties and space within the two major convention centers in downtown Atlanta. Her team manages accounts requiring more than 1,200 room nights on peak.

“As the fourth largest convention city in the country, Atlanta relies heavily upon citywide events,” says Mark Vaughan, executive vice president and chief sales officer, ACVB. “Charlene’s impact in this area over the last seven years has been tremendous, and we are excited to see what she will achieve by leading our trade show sales team in this role.”

Lopez’s experience working in hospitality spans 16 years. She joined ACVB in June 2012 as sales manager, national accounts, focusing on association and corporate business. Her career includes roles with Omni Hotel at CNN Center as director of sales, associate director of sales at Hyatt Regency Atlanta and associate director of sales, sales manager and business travel manager at Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa.

Established in 1913, Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB) is the official destination marketing organization for the city and serves to favorably impact Atlanta’s economy through conventions and tourism. A private, not-for-profit organization, ACVB bolsters Atlanta’s $16 billion hospitality industry which generated nearly 56 million visitors in 2018. For more info, visit atlanta.net
