AMPROFEC's 14th year closes with good results

AMPROFEC 2011From August 24 – 26, 2011, the 14th National Meeting of Mexican Association of Professionals of Fairs, Exhibitions and Conventiones (AMPROFEC) took place in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico, under the main theme “Growing the market events.”

This year, the association surprised more than 250 guests with a stage made of a 180-degree screen. International speakers, such as Tom Wujec, Shashank Nigam, Fernando Cordova and Corbin Ball, were surprised by the stage, and recognized the meeting as “highly competitive” internationally.

As a complement to the show, AMPROFEC had workshops divided into four areas based on different specialists: meeting planners, venues, designers and builders, hotels and airlines and suppliers.

The meeting was attended by important professionals like Arnaldo Nardone, president of ICCA; Vinnie Polito, president of IAEE; Bertha Garcia, president of COCAL; Serge Michelli, CAE, CEM, executive director of CAEM; Lewis Shomer, executive director of SISO; and Eduardo Chaillo, director of Meetings Tourism at CPTM.

AMPROFEC left a mark on social responsibility at this famous destination, with a campaign called “CUADERNOTÓN,” which delivered new notebooks (provided by the members) to poor communities in Quintana Roo in order to help them to continue with their education.

Also, for the first time, the CEM (Certified in Exhibition Management) program took place at the show. The program is a unique opportunity where the attendees shared knowledge between the most important CEMs from United States and Mexico.

The 15th AMPROFEC, to be held next year in Chihuahua, already has a confirmed commitment of the association for the MICE industry in Mexico.
