Anaheim CC creates time capsule for groundbreaking

Members of Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau (AOCVCB) and Anaheim Convention Center’s (ACC) Customer Advisory Board (CAB) met at the Anaheim Convention Campus from April 20-21 for the semi-annual CAB Board Meeting.

The two-day meeting was an opportunity for board members, including 20-plus influential corporate, association, meeting and event planners, to hear details on the state of the Anaheim meeting industry, attend the ACC seventh expansion groundbreaking and participate in creating/storing a time capsule to be opened in 2030.

To remain a leading convention destination, the semi-annual CAB meeting provides a forum to present plans and solicit feedback on how to better service decision-makers in choosing Anaheim as their business and leisure destination.

This year, CAB members were able to attend the ACC’s seventh expansion groundbreaking and participate by creating a time capsule filled with unique items from each organization, including tradeshow programs, personalized drum sticks, battery chargers, room keys, logoed golf balls and so much more. The time capsule will be buried in the new ACC building and will be dug up in 2030.

Personal messages from each participant were also stored within the time capsule, speaking to the 2030 audience.

Joe Lamond from NAMM wrote, “We can only guess what the world looks like now, but back in 2015, we buried this note with high hopes for the future — A future where the NAMM Show keeps growing, where the Anaheim community continues to thrive and where our vision of a world where every child has the chance to make music becomes a reality.”
