Arlington CVB hires VP of sales

Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau, a Texas-based destination marketing organization, selected a new vice president of sales effective Mar. 25.

Jon Hixon joins the Bureau with over 10 years of experience in the hospitality industry and an additional 10 years in expositions and tradeshows.

Hixon most recently worked as the director of sales, U.S. Association Sales at Tourism Toronto, where he led a team of eight sales staff to exceed room night quotas and assisted in developing strategic partnerships with key industry organizations.

“Since 1994, the hospitality industry has been my passion,” said Hixon, “I’ve been exposed to many key components of the industry, being a liaison for an evolving city like Arlington is a welcome new opportunity!”

He was the past chairman of the Chicago Area Convention Bureau Satellite Offices Group, past board member for the Chicago Chapter of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) and the Greater Midwest Chapter of the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) and currently serves on the PCMA Education Conference Committee.

Hixon and wife, Heather, will be relocating to Texas from Chicago with their daughter, McKenna, dog, Casey, and horse, Dutch.
