Association for Women in Events Welcomes Freeman as Platinum Partner

FreemanThe Association for Women in Events, a not for profit organization supporting gender equality and diversity, welcomes Freeman, the leading global provider of brand experiences, as its Platinum Partner.

AWE is an inclusive community dedicated to the professional advancement of women in all facets of the events industry. The focus of AWE is to build a strong community where women inspire women, help others and take control of their careers. AWE facilitates the resources and connections to identify professional solutions, mentors and opportunities for women. This mission greatly aligns with the values of Freeman.

Launched in 2012 with the primary mission to advance women as leaders and promote Freeman as the place where the best choose to work, Freeman Women’s Development encourages all women and men at any organizational level to join. The success of this internal grassroots organization relies on women employees who are committed to “paying it forward.” FWD offers fellow members professional growth opportunities through focused meetings and events, leadership opportunities, and informal and formal mentoring, while also supporting leadership diversity. In the short five years since its inception, FWD has grown to a membership of over 1,200 women and men.

“We are thrilled to support AWE and the professional advancement of women in the events industry,” said Dan Traver, business development vice president. “We have two members on the founding board of directors and with the compelling mission that AWE offers, it made perfect sense to partner and be part of an industry-led and focused organization.”

AWE was established in Washington, D.C. March of 2015 and opened international membership to women and men in the events/meetings industry in January of 2016. Its board is comprised women and men from all areas of the meetings, conventions, events and exhibitions industry including two representatives from Freeman: Melinda Kendall, senior vice president strategic sales support and Dan Travel, vice president of business development. Membership benefits include an immediate coaching program, access to the international membership directory, a robust events calendar, a quarterly educational eNewsletter, monthly webinars, ability to apply for Sponsorship Circle and 40+ opportunities for volunteer leadership positions. AWE offers individual, student, corporate and faculty memberships. For more info, visit http://www.womeninevents.org/.
