Catering to major retail chains as well as national tradeshows and exhibitions, Atlas Sales & Rentals originally set its roots in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1979. “National retail chains throughout the country are serviced by facilities maintenance contractors,” said Barry Vinik, regional manager, Atlas Sales & Rentals. “For example, if a major clothing store in Las Vegas were to lose its air conditioning in the middle of July, they would start to lose revenue because of the lack of cool air within the store. The store manager would then call the regional manager, who in turn calls the facility maintenance contractor. That company then turns to [Atlas Sales & Rentals] to provide temporary air conditioning.”
Showing diversity within the company, Atlas Sales not only caters to retail chains, but also to contractors, property managers, hospitals, medical buildings, major software companies, classrooms and government entities, among a few others. In regards to the tradeshow industry, the company caters to slightly different needs.
“If an exhibit booth has four walls and a ceiling, we provide the cooling systems for it,” said Vinik. “Open exhibits, on the other hand, do not need special cooling units because they are automatically cooled by the convention center.”
Providing services to both national and international customers during conventions, Atlas Sales & Rentals obtains much of its business from word-of-mouth marketing.
“In April, the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show in Las Vegas brings in exhibitors from places like Israel, the Netherlands and England,” said Vinik. “Since the exhibition showcases marketing communications equipment, we at Atlas Sales provide cooling for that equipment. The display lights also emit heat; we try to offset that heat with air conditioning.”
As a Las Vegas representative, Barry Vinik has worked with a wide range of national clients and convention center exhibitors during his employment with Atlas Sales & Rentals. Over the past 14 years, he has had the opportunity to cater to massive tradeshows like ConExpo, the international gathering place for the construction and mining industry.
