The Bar & Restaurant Expo has unveiled finalists for its prestigious 2025 Industry Excellence Awards, spotlighting exceptional hospitality professionals and businesses from across the United States. Winners will be announced at the Expo on Tuesday, March 25, in Las Vegas, recognizing achievements in innovation, community leadership, and sustainability within the independent bar and restaurant industry.
“This year, we saw a 23 percent increase in the number of entries, proving the value these awards provide for the industry,” said Tim McLucas, Market Leader, Hospitality Group at Questex. “We look forward to naming the winners at this year’s expo.”
Finalists were selected by an expert panel from Johnson & Wales University, renowned for its hospitality education. Judges evaluated submissions on criteria such as creativity, community impact, sustainability initiatives, and industry leadership.
Among the highlighted categories this year is Bar of the Year, featuring diverse venues known for innovation and local appeal. Alpine Cocktail Bar from Hagerstown, Maryland, earned a nomination for its adventurous cocktail menus, while Scottsdale’s Tell Your Friends gained attention for its vibrant atmosphere and community-driven programming. Dallas staple The Round-Up Saloon and Dance Hall was recognized for its lively country-western atmosphere and deep roots in local culture.
Bartender of the Year nominees include standout professionals known for their creativity and industry influence. Livio Laura of EuroBar and Master Your Glass in Las Vegas made the list not only for his mixology skills but also for his extensive contributions to hospitality training. Joining him are Ava Vitale from Crave in Rockford, Illinois, and Cesar Valdivia of JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa, both celebrated for elevating guest experiences through craft cocktails and personalized service.
The Chef of the Year finalists reflect a commitment to culinary excellence and sustainability. Notable names include Christopher Galarza from Forward Dining Solutions LLC, Pittsburgh, renowned for advocating environmentally conscious kitchen practices. Guy Vaknin of City Roots Hospitality in New York City brings a modern, plant-forward approach that resonates with diners, and Las Vegas favorite Nicole Brisson of Brezza & Bar Zazu has been lauded for her culinary leadership, locally sourced menus, and dedication to mentoring culinary talent.
Community impact is another central theme for the 2025 awards, highlighted in the Community Leadership category. Finalists include Nicole Brisson, recognized for her initiatives supporting local food systems in Las Vegas; Toups Family Meal from New Orleans, praised for ongoing efforts to feed vulnerable community members; and Troy Guard from TAG Restaurant Group, honored for significant charitable contributions in Denver and Houston.
Design nominees also brought style and innovation to the forefront. Las Vegas venues Pinky’s by Vanderpump and Wolf by Vanderpump have drawn attention for their sophisticated yet inviting aesthetics, competing alongside New York’s upscale event venue, Le Basque.
Winners in each category will receive custom-designed awards, industry recognition, and a complimentary pass to next year’s event. Additionally, all finalists are honored with complimentary Expo Plus Passes and featured prominently across the Expo’s digital platforms, highlighting their achievements before and during the event.
Industry professionals are encouraged to attend the awards ceremony at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, during the Bar & Restaurant Expo in Las Vegas.
