ITN International, provider of a cost effective mobile data management service for tradeshows, conferences and events, was named the second place winner in the commercial track of the 2010 NFC Forum Global Competition. ITN International earned this honor for the BCARD Reader-NFC Ecosystem for Events and Tradeshows. It is the first and only dedicated NFC ecosystem designed to manage and enhance the information exchange process at events, tradeshows and exhibitions.

“The NFC Ecosystem makes it easier for attendees and exhibitors to conduct business at tradeshows and events, and because it is permission based, meaning users control when and where their information is shared,” says Ivan Lazarev, president of ITN International.

The BCARD Reader–NFC Ecosystem for Events and Tradeshows enables attendees with fully functional, NFC equipped smartphones to share contact information, pay for food, and goods and receive the correct conference materials. At a deployment at GSMA’s Mobile Word Congress 2010 in Barcelona, 500 VIP participants received an NFC smartphone pre-loaded with 75 Euros.

The attendees used their smartphone in lieu of a badge to share information with suppliers, request materials and to exchange contact information with other attendees. Attendees also used their NFC phones to make purchases at 32 retail locations within the convention center, including food and drinks, and employed a wallet feature to check their transactions. The phones also read poster tags, enabled web content and were fully functional as phones.

This technology leverages the smartphone’s evolution into a combination communication device, wallet and information storage unit.
