Just ahead of a May 2014 opening, final construction is underway on the new CityCube Berlin.
Situated next door to the south entrance of the Berlin Exhibition Grounds, construction began in 2012. Built and managed by Messe Berlin, CityCube will have 47 meeting rooms and offer nearly 130,000 square feet of exhibition space.
To finalize construction, construction crews are completing the facility’s façade, securing electrical installations for new escalators and elevators, and testing heating systems.
Hosting the Confederation of German Trade Unions on May 11-16 will be the facility’s first event to be immediately followed by the World Congress of the International Trade Union Confederation. Facility officials report steady bookings over the next few years.
Textile cladding, which will be mounted on the façade’s exterior, creates lighter and transparent atmosphere, officials added.
