Earlier this year, Elmia Subcontractor, Northern Europe’s leading subcontractor tradeshow, introduced Subcontractor InnoDex, a new forum for innovation and product development.
One of the world’s biggest names in the materials and technology industry, Dr. Sascha Peters, a Berlin-based expert in product development, industrial design and engineering design, will make an appearance at InnoDex on Nov. 12-15 in Jönköping, Sweden.
Dr. Peters will be presenting unique innovations from around the world and hosting lectures about the latest in smart materials, lightweight constructions and new biomaterials.
New innovations include inflated metal, textiles that can change color and generate energy, hollow and flexible metal materials, and the biomaterial mushroom, which can create a magnetic field and was selected as one of the ten best innovations of 2013 by NASA, Nike, USAID and the U.S. Department of State.
“Industrial designers no longer just beautify a product towards the end of its development phase,” says Peters. “Nowadays the parties involved have equal status and the materials and engineering design are often developed concurrently. This means that the materials can be customized at an early stage to give the new product the desired properties.”
Constantly searching the world to find new, exciting innovations, Peters maintains contact with research institutes and designers worldwide, aiming to build bridges between the worlds of technology and design.
