Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) has named a new director of meetings. This professional has more than 20 years of meeting management experience.
Before joining DMAI, Cindy Kong spent 10 years as the director of meeting and conferences at the Association of Science-Technology Centers (ASTC). Prior ASTC, she was with the American Plastics Council.
“Cindy values the DMO relationship and has previously worked with many of our members as she developed and managed association meetings,” said Michael Gehrisch, president and CEO of DMAI. “She is strongly recommended for her professionalism, strategic thinking, detailed organization and thoughtful volunteer engagement, in addition to her quality meetings management expertise.”
Kong is enthusiastic about her new position providing meeting services for destination marketing professionals.
“Over the last 15 years, DMOs have been valued partners for me as I’ve managed meetings for other associations,” she said. “Now, I look forward to giving back to these wonderful, passionate individuals by providing outstanding meeting experiences for professional growth and networking.”
Kong holds a Masters in Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Maryland. She is a member of both the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) and the Meeting Professionals International (MPI). In addition, she is a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP).
