DTA Security Services hires new director of operations

DTA Security Services, LLC, a division of Dan Taylor & Associates, LLC, is pleased to announce that Edward Kelter will be joining the firm as the director of operations. Kelter brings 33 years of experience in law enforcement, investigations and venue and event security.


A Vietnam veteran, Kelter served for 22 years in law enforcement, rising to the rank of Deputy Chief of Police. He and his family moved to Las Vegas in 1999 where he worked as a resort security supervisor. Kelter obtained his Nevada Private Investigator License and conducted a variety of investigations in Nevada including sensitive top secret clearance federal background investigations following September 11th.

“While working with show managers I’ve developed an appreciation for their expectations and needs”, said Kelter. “I’m very grateful for the opportunity to help contribute to the success of DTA Security Services, LLC, by providing superior quality services to the tradeshow industry. I share their belief that high-quality, professional security services need not come at a higher bottom line to the client when proper planning and strong on-site management is applied.”

Kelter joined the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVB) in 2003 and served as security manager for the LVCVB and Cashman Center for the past five years. He has extensive experience in event security planning and was responsible for security plan reviews submitted for some of the countries largest tradeshows. He managed the day to day operations of the security force, coordinated medical services and led an explosives detection canine unit. Kelter also acted as liaison to the many contract security companies and tradeshow managers working in the LVCVA facilities. Kelter authored a contract security standards policy and has prepared numerous emergency operations plans tailored for specific events.

In addition to training in all aspects of law enforcement and security, Kelter is a graduate of Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command and the International Association of Assembly Managers Academy for Venue Safety and Security. He is also a certified Emergency Medical Technician.
