Once again, EDPA plans to participate in Euroshop, February 26-March 3, 2011, Dusseldorf, Germany. The event is held once every three years. EDPA has contracted to have a six by six meter space, which will serve to promote the benefits and value of EDPA membership, as well as establish a meeting point for those EDPA members who plan to attend.
On September 29, 2010 Jeff Provost, EDPA director, and Larry Kulchawik of 3D Exhibits met with the FIT class of 2011 to review the request for proposals that EDPA sent to FIT in late August. The requirements were to provide strong identity, give a place to meet and greet, offer a private meeting room, and supply a storage room. Most importantly, the space must create an environment and a process to communicate the benefits and value for being an EDPA member.
After the presentation, the students immediately commenced with design concepts with guidance from Brenda Cowen, program chairman, and Robin Drake, program instructor for FIT Exhibit Design staff.
On October 13, Jon Horn, creative director for 3D Exhibits, reviewed each of the student’s preliminary designs to be certain they were on track with show regulations and can-do ideas.
“I was quite amazed to see how quickly the students grasped their concepts, given this was their first time designing an exhibit,” said Horn.
Final presentations will take place October 27. Various EDPA designers and management staff will serve as judges to select the final design in November. The winning student will be receive a plane ticket to Dusseldorf along with hotel accommodations to see the final product, as well as entry to Euroshop. The winning design will then be detailed and manufactured with an EDPA partner in Germany.
“As practicing professionals, we are enthusiastic and honored to help the students. They will soon be the future eyes and ears for our industry,” said Marco Alverez, president, Fabric Images.
“We all look forward to seeing the winning design to be presented at the annual EDPA ACCESS meeting Dec 3 in Sawgrass, Fla.”
EDPA has reached out to the FIT class of 2011to design the EDPA stand. Gold sponsors will be Octanorm and Fabric Images.
Platinum sponsors will be other suppliers who donate their materials and time to pull the design together. Silver sponsors will be EDPA members who wish to be contributing partners and qualify to be listed in the Euroshop show directory.
