EIBTM global ‘talks’ slated to assess education, training needs in meetings industry

eibtm_logoAssessing the need for more educational and training opportunities within the meetings industry is the aim of a new series of scheduled global “talks” sponsored by EIBTM, a leading global event for the meetings, incentives, events and business-travel industry.

The first of the series of talks is “EIBTM Talks Technology,” which is scheduled to take place in Gdansk, Poland, on Aug. 28 and again in Belgrade, Serbia, on Aug. 30. EIBTM officials are looking to advance the state of the increasingly global meetings industry.

“We are really excited about the potential of the new ‘EIBTM Talks’ sessions and feel that by reaching out and supporting the industry, we will be able to help drive it forward through providing insight and knowledge into key issues,” said Graeme Barnett, exhibition director, EIBTM.

Presentations from industry experts are scheduled at both events, including Shuli Golovinski of Newton Strand on “Generations Y and Z,” which will focus on how industry professionals need to embrace technological innovation to enhance attendees’ learning styles and experiences at an event. Ewan MacLeod of Mobile Industry Review is scheduled to present “The Mobile Revolution,” which highlights the fast-paced growth of the mobile industry and implications for the meetings industry. Adi Ben-Nesher of Event Skills is slated to present “Improving the Attendee Journey,” during which he will share his insights and key points about how to add value for events and meetings delegates.

Although the first two “EIBTM Talks” are focused on technology, each event will be adapted to meet with the particular needs of the local market of the host city.

“The joint project with EIBTM is not only a great honor for us but also a huge opportunity. Technology standards within the industry are advancing at a fast pace. The ‘EIBTM Talks Technology’ workshop will be a great educational event,” said Anna Gorska, CEO, Gdansk Convention Bureau.

Learning more about technology’s role in the meetings industry could help developing nations to become more cost-efficient and competitive in the regional and global meetings industries.

“The ‘EIBTM Talks Technology’ series is helping us and our industry suppliers to explore the technologies and creative options that transform our businesses. Meeting with international and local experts in this industry will enable us to conduct daily operations better and, most importantly, in a more cost-effective way,” said Milos Milovanovic, CEO, Serbia Convention Bureau.
