EIC Names Gus Chijioke Director of Certification

The Events Industry Council, the global voice of the business events industry on advocacy, research, professional recognition and standards, announces the appointment of Augustine (Gus) Chijioke as director of certification and education.

Gus’s remit for EIC includes directing the CMP and CMP-HC credentialing program—recognized globally as the badge of excellence in the events industry, to ensure that the examination program continues to adhere to the highest test development and administration standards; and continuing to grow and develop the organization’s educational products and services.

Gus will play a key role for the EIC as we continue to deliver relevant high-quality education and make it available and easily accessible to an increasingly global audience.”

Previously, Chijioke was director, membership and certification at Capital Association Management, where he was responsible for the management of several association certification boards (AABC Commissioning Group, Energy Management Association, & Associated Air Balance Council, and served as the program and project manager on various initiatives. He has also held the positions of manager, database & membership operations manager and recertification & health-system specialist at the American Pharmacists Association.

The Events Industry Council’s more than 30 member organizations represent more than 103,500 individuals and 19,500 firms and properties involved in the events industry. The Events Industry Council’s vision is to be the global champion for event professionals and event industry excellence. It promotes high standards and professionalism in the events industry with the Certified Meeting Professional program and signature program activities.
