Expotechnik Group, an international service provider, has started 2012 by growing its business force.
Mel Blackwell has been hired as executive vice president and experiential industry stalwart, Tucker Ramsey as senior vice president of consulting and design. Together, Blackwell and Ramsey will drive growth and profit for Expotechnik America Ltd. based in Atlanta, Ga.
Blackwell was recently appointed to the EVP role after four years managing Expotechnik’s U.S. sales and design teams. Prior to that, he spent more than 15 years holding executive positions within the telecommunications and software industries. An optimization expert, Blackwell authored the POCIT process, a technique that focuses on profitability from top to bottom. He has successfully employed this technique to staff of all levels throughout his career.
“Mel is a businessman, first and foremost,” said Alexander Soschinski, Expotechnik CEO. “He has face-to-face industry experience and also brings a wealth of best practices from his versatile industry background. Mel has the fine balance of operational, financial and interpersonal expertise to fortify Expotechnik’s growth in America.”
Blackwell earned his bachelor’s in marketing at Auburn University and an MA in Organization Development at the University of Alabama.
Ramsey’s 20 years of experience leading organizations in business development and client advocacy made him a strong candidate to run U.S. sales. His bachelor’s in industrial design and MBA in marketing sealed the deal. Reporting directly to Blackwell, Ramsey will lead business development and design for the U.S. market.
“Tucker’s combination of business, sales and design acumen forms the perfect triumvirate for extended growth in the U.S.,” said Blackwell. “Combining sales and design into one department is a key ingredient in delivering what our U.S. clients want most – inspired design, sales-driving ideas and cost efficiency.”
Ramsey’s 20-year career in experiential marketing spanned several supplier companies. Most recently, Ramsey served as vice president of business development at Access TCA. He holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial design from Auburn University and an MBA from the University of Georgia.
“Expotechnik is ever sensitive to the needs of our individual audiences throughout the globe,” said Soschinski. “Blackwell and Ramsey represent the type of leadership that successfully translates a global offering into a local solution. In both, we have a very strong, versatile leadership team serving our U.S. customers.”
