The Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) has announced the selection of a new director of sales for the 3.9 million-square-foot facility.
“We are all looking forward to the addition of Mark Adams to our GWCC team,” said said Mark Zimmerman, general manager of the convention center. “I am confident that with his experience he will make an immediate impact on our sales program.”
Adams joins the GWCC after working as the director of sales for the Athens Convention and Visitors Bureau where he led the sales team in booking over 150 conventions, corporate meetings and sporting events each year.
Prior to his work in Athens, Adams was general manager of GES Exposition Services where he produced some of the largest tradeshows in the industry including Professional Golfers Association, Surf Expo, National Business Aviation Association and The American Dental Association. Prior to being promoted to general manager, Adams served as operations manager for GES.
Adams has held leadership roles with many industry associations. He has been active in the Georgia Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus and previously served as president of the Florida Chapter of International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE). He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Georgia Society of Association Executives. A native of Atlanta, Adams is a graduate of Troy University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science and Social Science degree.
