Global Spectrum hits record highs at Saint Charles Convention Center

Global Spectrum, managers of the Saint Charles Convention Center, achieved highest gross revenue since its opening in 2005 as well as other notable records.

Exceeding expectations, Global Spectrum reached the highest gross revenue to date of over $5.68 million, beating the previous record of $5.61 million set forth in 2011. This revenue made it possible for the venue to surpass budget for the ninth consecutive year and operate at a net profit for the third year in a row.

Up by two percent over the previous year, Global Spectrum hosted 311 events and drew in over 252,000 people in 2013.

“We are thrilled to report another exceptional year of performance for Global Spectrum and the Saint Charles Convention Center. Our record setting successes could not have been achieved without our experienced, hardworking staff and their commitment to exceptional customer service, our loyal clients and attendees who host and attend events, and our great partnership with the St. Charles Convention and Sports Facilities Authority and the Convention and Visitors Bureau,” said Shura Garnett, general manager and regional vice president, Global Spectrum.

Global Spectrum set three other eminent records at the venue. The highest grossing revenue month was made twice in 2013; first in October with over $738,000 in gross revenue, and then again in December, with gross revenues over $777,000. Total Food and Beverage revenue in 2013 was almost $3.2 million, exceeding the previous record by $45,000 set forth in 2011. In 2013, Global Spectrum hosted 19 conventions and generated a record of $1.32 million in revenue, beating out previous record by $244,000 set in 2012.

“It gives me great pleasure to commend the team at Global Spectrum for their innovation, creativity and impeccable attention to detail, especially from a customer service perspective. I personally hold the Center’s staff in high esteem for their ability to exceed expectations in the quality and consistency of events held here in St. Charles,” said St. Charles Mayor Sally Faith.

“Visitors to our City enjoy the many underlying benefits thanks to the staff’s ability to outpace budgets, coupled with their ability to develop strong partnerships and relationships with the Greater Saint Charles Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Greater St. Charles County Chamber of Commerce, and the Embassy Suites Hotel.

“I also appreciate their commitment to community service through hosting annual events such as Helping Hands for the Holidays and Back-to-School efforts to donate backpacks and school supplies locally.”

Named “Best Place to Hold a Meeting” by local businesses, The Saint Charles Convention Center has hosted over 2,800 events since opening and has enjoyed much success.

“We could not be more pleased to once again acknowledge the success of the Saint Charles Convention Center as this facility represents an integral part of our business community. This property’s ongoing track record of solid, measurable results is attributed directly to extraordinary management provided by the Global Spectrum team under the leadership of Shura Garnett. The collaborative relationship between the Convention Center staff and the Greater Saint Charles CVB gives us the opportunity to showcase St. Charles as a prime destination for conferences and meetings,” said Martha Little, interim director, Greater Saint Charles Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB).
