Global Spectrum, a facility management company at Cincinnati’s Duke Energy Convention Center, has promoted Brad Schmittou to director of event services, and Kara Manis, former member of Xavier Musketeer Women’s Golf team, returns to Cincinnati as event manager. Gibson Purdom also was welcomed to as the sales manager at the 750,000-square-foot facility.
Schmittou, a native of Cincinnati, has been an event manager with Global Spectrum at the Harborview Center in Clearwater, Florida and the Duke Energy Convention Center. He returned to his hometown when Global Spectrum was hired to assume operations at the Duke Energy Convention Center in 2006. In his new role, Schmittou will oversee the event management department and the more than 200 events that come the to center each year.
Manis, a 2007 graduate of Xavier University and native of Canton, is returning to Ohio after recently receiving a master’s degree in public assembly facility management from the University of South Carolina in 2009. In her role as event manager, Manis will assist clients of the Duke Energy Convention Center in the planning phase of their events, which includes event diagrams and event coordination.
Purdom, a native of Cincinnati, joins Global Spectrum as a sales manager after spending the past seven years as a real estate agent with Re/Max. In her role, Purdom will take over as the booking agent for social events as well as city of Cincinnati and University of Cincinnati events.
