Global Spectrum names GM for Atlantic City Convention Center

Poised to lure business to Atlantic City, Global Spectrum has named a general manager of the Atlantic City Convention Center.

A 33-year veteran of the facility management industry, Karen Totaro will oversee all aspects of the convention center operation in her new role, including the booking of the facility along with ensuring client and customer satisfaction.

Previously, she was an assistant general manager at the Global Spectrum-managed Duke Energy Convention Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, since 2012.

John Page, president, Global Spectrum, mentioned the importance of the Atlantic City market.

At the beginning of 2014, the Casino Redevelopment Authority in Atlantic City selected Global Spectrum as the management and marketing firm for both Boardwalk Hall and the Atlantic City Convention Center

“We felt it was imperative to have a dedicated, full-time general manager at the Convention Center to focus on the bookings and enhance the customer experience,” said Page.

Totaro, a Chicago native, is an International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM) board member and will become the board’s incoming chair in 2015.
