The International Association of Exhibitions and Events announces Anja Loetscher has joined its team as an international consultant to assist the Partner Relations team in global growth. She will contribute to expanding IAEE’s global reach by engaging with industry organizations outside of the U.S. on the wide-ranging benefits of partnering with IAEE in its various education offerings and exhibiting at Expo! Expo! IAEE’s Annual Meeting & Exhibition.
“Anja is a very welcome addition to our international staff that represents the largest and most credible global exhibitions industry association,” says IAEE President and CEO David DuBois, CMP, CAE, FASAE, CTA. “Her worldwide relationships will assist IAEE as we continue to enhance our programs and provide more incredible success to the global exhibitions industry.”
“I am looking forward to this great opportunity and proud to be part of the international team of IAEE,” says Loetscher.
Loetscher was born in Germany and spent her childhood in Africa, returning to Germany to complete her formal education. She became acquainted with the exhibitions and events industry in 1978 when she joined her then-hotel manager husband, traveling and supporting him in the Middle East, Australia, Tahiti and Asia.
Over the past 20 years she has held several senior management and leadership positions, notably as regional director, Europe for hospitality technology provider TravelClick, and as vice president of EMEA sales Kempinski Hotels & Resorts, an international luxury hotel group. In 2007, Loetscher moved to Geneva, Switzerland, where she launched the Geneva Convention Bureau to formalize the city’s convention business under the auspices of Geneva Tourism. Under her leadership, the bureau has developed into one of Europe’s leading convention bureaus.
Loetscher has served on the Switzerland and Incentive Bureau Marketing Board as well as serving for five years on the Board of Directors of Destinations International (former DMAI). In addition, she was a member of the Meetings Industry Steering group at European Cities Marketing and faculty member of the ECM Academy.
In 2013, Loetscher created PURPLEconexion, a platform in Geneva for senior business leaders to mutually explore best business practices on a regular basis. Her passion for conscious leadership encouraged her to qualify as a professional coach and become a member of the International Coaching Federation. Loetscher also earned an MBA from Reims University in France, and her interest in wine inspired her to create a 78-kilometer wine trail in the countryside of Geneva, much enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.
In 2016, Loetscher was named “One of the 25 Most Influential People in the Meetings Industry” by Successful Meetings, and she received mbt Meetingplace’s “MICE Achievement Award” in 2017. In 2018, she was granted the “Paul Flackett IMEX Academy Award” presented by the IMEX Group and was inducted into the Destinations International Hall of Fame. Loetscher’s expansive career has given her the opportunity to live and work in more than 15 countries across the globe. She applies her experience by integrating and enjoying the diversity of a wide range of cultures, values and business approaches.
