IMMERSION 2014, built on the previous eight years of success of Immersive Education conferences in Boston who are the world’s leading experts in immersion and immersive technology, will convene Jun. 6-8 in Los Angeles.
Sponsored by Disney and Target, IMMERSION 2014 is open to the public and will be hosted by The Getty and Loyola Marymount University in collaboration with the Smithsonian Institution. The event will feature speakers and exhibits by Disney Animation Studios, the Smithsonian Institution, Google, Microsoft, Stratasys, Oculus, Oracle, Bitcoin and others.
Addressing the personal and cultural impact of digital technologies is the purpose of IMMERDION 2014 with technologies such as wearable computing (e.g., Google Glass and Oculus Rift), virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MXR), and mechanical and neural interfaces.
Other technologies to be experienced and discussed include affective computing, neuro-gaming technologies, 3D printing, personal robotics, virtual currencies and economies, telepresence, virtual worlds, simulations, game-based learning and training systems, immersive MOOCs, and deeply engaging environments such as caves and domes.
IMMERSION 2014 modules include Arts & Culture, Entertainment, Human-Computer Interaction, a screening and panel discussion of the movie HER, Immersive Teaching & Learning, and Business and Economics.
