Noting a significant increase in online participation was the Professional Convention Management Association’s (PCMA) 2014 Convening Leaders event in Boston.
Association officials said that while the January 2014 in-person event drew over 4,000 attendees, about 877 attended via the hybrid virtual online event.
According to Deborah Sexton, president and CEO, PCMA, having a hybrid event will drive new traffic to one’s brand, and eventually to one’s face-to-face event.
“Our numbers for both mediums prove our strategy is real and relevant; we continue to expand our audience globally as well as within our target audiences,” said Sexton.
Since PCMA first began online streaming keynotes in 2010, there has been a gradual increase in events being broadcast online; primarily reaching an audience that is unable to travel to events, according to PCMA officials.
