Co-located with Surf Expo was the first annual the International Distance Skateboard Association’s (IDSA) inaugural Longboard Symposium.
Held in January in Orlando, the symposium gathered longboard industry leaders together to discuss collaborative approaches to help grow the health and participation of the sport.
Surf Expo is a boardsports and beach/resort lifestyle tradeshow held twice a year annually, and draws buyers from specialty stores, major resorts, cruise lines and others across the U.S. and worldwide.
While IDSA is making an effort to promote longboarding as a source of alternative transportation, Doog Becker, skate category manager, Surf Expo, is happy to see communities taking an interest in distance skateboarding,
“The IDSA is doing a great service to help promote and organize distance skateboarding, and I believe it has true potential for growth in the industry. It’s refreshing to see communities taking such an interest, even at the collegiate level with college teams competing on local track fields,” said Becker.
