Cheeca Lodge & Spa, an iconic luxury lifestyle hotel in the Florida Keys, announces the appointment of Israel Ferrer as food & beverage director, overseeing the property’s reimagined signature restaurants, Atlantic’s Edge and Nikai Sushi Bar, as well as the newly debuted Neapolitan Italian Bistro, Mia Cucina. As the new food & beverage director, Ferrer will bring more than ten years of experience in the hospitality and culinary industry to the landmark 214-room property.
Prior to joining the Cheeca Lodge & Spa team, Ferrer was director of food & beverage of the Muse Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants in New York. Ferrer’s robust hospitality experience spans positions held in New York and California, including being the eighth floor complex senior director at New York Mariott Marquis, where he was promoted to director of food & beverage at JW Marriot Essex House. In this new executive position, Ferrer will be instrumental in menu planning, food sourcing and managing the property’s notable kitchen staff, overseeing all initiatives surrounding food & beverage.
“Mr. Ferrer brings a seasoned culinary background and a fresh vision to the Florida Keys, stemming from his experience working with some of New York City and California’s most celebrated hotels,” says Robert LaCasse, general manager of Cheeca Lodge & Spa. “We are delighted to welcome him to the Cheeca family and are confident that he will flourish here and take our restaurant and bar spaces to new heights.”
Ferrer will work alongside a dedicated team to ensure the highest standards of hospitality and cuisine are met throughout the hotel. The iconic property has undergone a $25 million renovation; including the main lodge and all 214 guestrooms, suites and bungalows to meeting and event spaces, serene spa, multiple dining outlets and stunning palm-fringed grounds.
