Kim Hayes recipient of RSMGC, Week of Sept. 23

The Randy Smith Memorial Golf Classic (RSMGC) is an annual fundraiser that provides financial support to families in the exhibition industry who have suffered severe tragedies or medical expenses.

Kim Hayes has worked at Nth Degree, a global event marketing and management company, for 20 years. In December 2012, shortly after Christmas, Hayes was diagnosed with breast cancer. After five months of chemotherapy, she had a double mastectomy on Jul. 3 and will be out of work for a minimum of 6 weeks. She is waiting to hear if she will need to do radiation, an everyday therapy for 5 weeks total.

With Kim out of work for at least 6 weeks, times have been hard. Kim’s husband was previously out of work for three and a half years. Shortly before Kim’s diagnosis, her husband was able to find an hourly job. But with his new job, he doesn’t get paid if he isn’t working. It has been a struggle finding support and care for Kim.

Kim has two children, Ashley, in her second year in college, and Kody in high school.
